Finland Center sends Dorcas Center/Panzi Hospital over $12,000 from AJFG

Arctic Jungle Fashion Gala raised over $12,000 for Dorcas Center, for the rehabilitation of victims of sexual war crimes, located next to and affiliated with Panzi Hospital, in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The funds will be transferred securely through Norwegian Church Aid to ensure accountability for every penny.

THANK YOU to all the attendees and supporters of Arctic Jungle Fashion Gala! The event was a fantastic success, the results of which will be tabulated on Finland Center Foundation’s website (www.finlandcenter.org) and sent to Dr. Mukwege and the Panzi Hospital in the Congo.

Finland Center will be accepting further donations through October, for what happens next, and images/coverage from the event, watch this space.

For now, we want to thank everyone for the enormous amount of time, commitment, and resources in pulling off such a lively event. Particularly, we would like to express our gratitude to surprise speaker Jan Egeland, former UN undersecretary for Humanitarian Affairs, who, in sharing his personal experience of the Congo and his encounters with the mass rape victims at Panzi Hospital, helped anchor our fun and glamorous evening in the real reason for the event– the violated women of the Congo.
